Luxury hotels on Tenerife – 5 details you did not know
Hacienda del Conde Meliá Collection is for adults who want to get away from it all… Only guests aged 16 and over can stay, and the hotel sits on its own at Buenavista del Norte, beside the golf course and below the Teno massif, with the Atlantic in front. Guests praise the warm staff, the large, spotless rooms with sea views and a breakfast they call superb. A spa with a sauna and hot tub, a pool open all year and quiet evenings with soft jazz set the pace. The seclusion cuts both ways. The nearest town is a drive away, so a car is close to essential, and some guests found a few nights enough. Dinner and drinks are where value slips, and the layout over many levels, not all with lifts, takes some getting used to. Couples and golfers who want calm, space and views will be very happy here; families with children cannot stay.

Why this position
Guests on Booking rate it above #6 (9.1 to 8.6), but #6 leads on Google (4.8 to 4.6), which the ranking weighs equally.
Royal Hideaway Corales Beach is built for adults who want the food and the service to be the point of the trip… The hotel is only for guests aged 16 and over, it sits on the seafront in La Caleta on Costa Adeje, and its modern building opens onto wide Atlantic views. Guests are warmest about the staff, the breakfast and dinners across several restaurants, and the big, bright rooms with comfortable beds. A spa with a hydrotherapy circuit, three pools and a well-equipped gym round out the days. The trade-offs are about value and small details. Value for money is the point guests question most, the Wi-Fi is weaker, and the in-room coffee is rationed. Half board can be limited to one restaurant, and late checkout is hard to get when the hotel is full. Couples and solo travellers who care most about dining and a calm setting will feel at home here; families with children cannot stay.
Why this position
Among the three highest guest scores of the 12 hotels we rank here — 9.3 from 497 reviews. Scores higher than #7 (9.3 to 9.1), on a smaller body of reviews (497 to 704).

Set in Tenerife’s southwest coast, this timeless island retreat overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and neighbouring island of Gomera. It has 7 outdoor pools, a spa and is in close distance to a golf course… Read more
Why this position
The same guest score as #9 (9.0), on a smaller body of reviews (908 to 1,889).
1881 Tenerife Madrigueras Golf Hotel is an adults-only hotel for travellers who want calm and golf above all… It has 57 rooms on the Golf Las Américas course above Playa de las Américas, with views over the fairways to the Atlantic and La Gomera, a large pool and a spa with massages and a Turkish bath. Guests praise the quiet, the warm and professional staff, the spotless rooms and a breakfast cooked to order, and golfers value stepping straight onto the course with reduced green fees. The quiet also defines what is missing. The Golden Mile and its restaurants are a taxi ride away, so many guests rely on a car or taxi, and the restaurant can be fully booked in the evening, so dinners need planning. The spa is small and its hours are limited. Golfers and couples who want a peaceful base will feel at home; anyone who wants nightlife on the doorstep should stay closer to the seafront.
Why this position
Among the three highest guest scores of the 12 hotels we rank here — 9.4 from 153 reviews. Scores higher than #10 (9.4 to 9.0), on a smaller body of reviews (153 to 908).
Iberostar Selection Sábila is an easy choice for adults who want a relaxed, well-run base on Costa Adeje… Only guests aged 16 and over can stay, the hotel sits in large gardens a few minutes' walk from Fañabé beach, and Puerto Colón, with its restaurants and bars, is within walking distance. Guests are warmest about the friendly staff and the breakfast, and they like the practical touches: an app for reserving sun loungers, wristbands instead of key cards and a spa that earns high praise. The weaker points are in the details. Several doubles turn out to be two single beds pushed together, the pools are too shallow for real swimming, and the sauna costs extra. Guests are less convinced by the value for money, and housekeeping does not always keep up. Couples who want sun, a good breakfast and plenty within reach will be well looked after; families with children cannot stay.
Why this position
Rests on more guest reviews than #11 (961 to 153), at a slightly lower score (9.0 to 9.4).

Read our methodologyWhere to stay on Tenerife?
Areas drawn from our hotels' addresses — updated as the selection changes.
Costa Adeje & Playa de las Américas
Best for Luxury resort seekersThis sun-drenched stretch of southwestern coastline is famous for its high-end beach resorts, manicured promenades, and calm sandy bays. It is the island's premier hub for premium dining, shopping, and water sports.
South-West Coast
Best for Quiet coastal escapesPositioned along Tenerife's rugged western shore, this region offers dramatic volcanic cliffs and a more serene atmosphere than the bustling southern hubs. It is highly regarded for its championship golf courses and spectacular views of La Gomera.
San Miguel de Abona
Best for Golfers and familiesLocated on the breezy southern coast near the airport, this area is characterised by volcanic pebble beaches, quiet residential developments, and world-class golf courses. It serves as an ideal base for travellers seeking active outdoor recreation away from the denser resort crowds.
Puerto de la Cruz
Best for Culture and lush natureSituated on the greener, more humid northern coast, Puerto de la Cruz is a historic resort town known for its traditional Canarian architecture, black-sand beaches, and lush botanical gardens. It offers a more authentic cultural experience compared to the purpose-built southern strip.
Areas to consider
While the southern resorts offer guaranteed year-round sunshine, travellers seeking traditional Canarian culture may find the purpose-built developments around Playa de las Américas and Golf del Sur lacking in historic character.

Every hotel counts once, at its own typical price, so hotels we happened to check more often don't carry more weight. Prices are the lowest rate available for the whole stay, worked out per night in euros.

How we chose these hotels
At our latest review (August 2026) the properties listed above were measured against the same standard: sustained guest scores on both Booking.com and Google — weighted by how many reviews sit behind them — five-star class or an equivalent premium level, a genuinely first-rate location, and facilities that set the hotel apart.
As a guideline we look for around 8.5 or higher on Booking.com, but no single number decides on its own — when the sources disagree, the broader evidence wins. Guest scores on this page update continuously, and the selection is re-reviewed at regular intervals. The full standard is described in how we choose hotels.
