Tripplo’s hotel summary

Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 22 October 2026 · How we review hotels

Excellent for wellness seekers and culinary enthusiasts staying in chic Östermalm. Guests benefit from a comprehensive wellness centre and spa, three distinct on-site dining options, and private balconies in many guest rooms. A minor drawback is the limited number of on-site private parking spaces, and there is potential street noise in the exterior-facing rooms.

Located in the upscale Östermalm district of Stockholm, Villa Dagmar merges historical elegance with contemporary Swedish design. The property features a striking glass-roofed courtyard, excellent dining options, and a restorative wellness center. It is particularly well-suited for design-conscious travelers seeking a sophisticated urban retreat with easy access to high-end shopping and culture.

Guests score it 8.8 out of 10 — the average across the 9 hotels we list in Stockholm is 9.1.

  • Many of the modern guest rooms feature private balconies overlooking the quiet courtyard or the surrounding Östermalm neighborhood, providing a rare private outdoor space in central Stockholm.
  • With three restaurants on-site, guests can experience diverse culinary concepts, ranging from Mediterranean-inspired dishes to classic Swedish flavors, all under a glass-roofed atrium.

“This is a very hard review for me to write as I often refrain from doing such things. The rooms are small but comfortable, the bed is fantastic and location could not be better. However, the service falls short from 5*. There were days our room was not serviced, it was never turned down at night and for the last 3 days of our visit the water in the minibar was not restocked. Also, the breakfast is lacking (being next to salumhall helped in that front). That being said, I would stay at Villa Dagmar again if I were looking at it as a place to sleep as opposed to a luxury hotel. The front office staff is very polite and friendly.”

“This is really tough. The hotel as a whole is pretty great. But they charge a price and show off accolades which are exceptional. It simply isn't exceptional. When problems arise they are quick to try to solve them, which is great. However, we ran into more than a handful of problems. If you want to charge top dollar and be awarded with accolades, these problems cannot occur. The breakfast is way below average for Europe. Price is drinks is at least double the average. Rooms are nice but have electrical problems or broken windows. The spa is lovely during the off season but when busy you won't be able to even use it. The road out front is very noisy. Room service food is inedible. We will not return to this hotel”

“What an absolute amazing hotel, Rooms - Excellent quality and space for a city hotel and the only downside is light switches need to be reprogrammed 216. Spa - We loved it, quaint, clean and we also had room service down there too. Food - I believe the food here is exceptional and especially since they have the top chef from Soho house. Every member of staff, so friendly and quick to sort and all have a personality, Thank you - we will see you in the summer!”

“We ate at the restaurant and were very disappointed. We ordered the entrecôte (495), which according to the menu includes pommes, but only one small bowl of fries was served for the whole table. My pregnant partner ordered her steak well done, but it arrived red and undercooked. When we told the server, he insisted it was well done and refused to send it back to cook it longer, and saying it would burn. She did not eat instead. This was very unprofessional and showed no concern for customer safety.”
