Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 22 October 2026 · How we review hotels
Travellers seeking an authentic, boutique historical experience in the heart of Ragusa will appreciate this property. Set in an 18th-century villa, it features authentic antique furnishings and a comprehensive on-site wellness spa. Visitors should note, however, that the hotel has limited street accessibility and a restricted layout due to its historic building design.
Guests score it 9.0 out of 10 — the average across the 13 hotels we list on Sicily is 9.0.
- Set in a beautifully restored 18th-century mansion, the property retains its original noble architecture, offering guests a rare glimpse into classic Sicilian aristocratic life.
- Guest rooms and common areas are adorned with genuine Sicilian and European antiques, creating an atmosphere of refined, historic sophistication.
- The central historic location means navigating narrow streets can be challenging for those driving large vehicles, though the hotel offers parking options.
- Due to the preserved nature of the 18th-century structure, some room configurations and accessibility features may be more restricted than in modern developments.

Reviews from Google“We were really looking forward to our stay, and there were definitely some positive aspects: the hotel itself is beautiful, very well located, and the staff were attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, however, the overall experience was quite disappointing. The main issue was the room. The category is advertised as having a “historic centre view,” and the photos mainly show a spacious room with a large terrace overlooking the cathedral. We understand there are only two rooms in this category, but considering how different they are, it does not seem fair to sell them at the same price. Our room was noticeably less impressive, and the “historic centre view” was essentially a view of a street and a clothing shop opposite. We booked the hotel 10 days in advance and specifically added a request to our reservation asking for the room with a view of the cathedral. Of course, we understand that special requests cannot always be guaranteed. However, if the hotel already knew that this particular room was unavailable or had already been booked, we would have appreciated being informed in advance. This would have allowed us to adjust our expectations or reconsider the booking altogether The balcony door was also covered with bird droppings. Breakfast was probably the most disappointing part of the stay. The included selection was extremely limited: some cold cuts and cheese that did not seem particularly fresh, boiled eggs, a few small pieces of fruit, nuts and croissants. If you want eggs prepared in any other way, you have to pay extra — for example, eggs with bacon cost €8, and even a toast with ham and cheese costs €6. For a hotel of this level and price range, we found this very surprising. A proper breakfast should not require guests to pay extra for such basic items. Another important thing to mention is the noise. There is a bar right next to the hotel, and on the night of our stay people were partying there until around 2 a.m. The music was clearly audible inside our room. So if you are a light sleeper or are choosing this hotel expecting a peaceful night, this is definitely something to keep in mind.”
“We hosted our wedding here, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The staff's attention to detail was incredible, and every part of our celebration was executed flawlessly. They made our family and friends feel completely at home, addressing every question and concern promptly and professionally. Truly top-notch, accommodating service. We'd recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a first-class experience. Five stars!”
“Hotel is well located near restaurants in the newer part of The rooms are a bit small, typical for the area/age and I was very grateful for the door to the balcony to allow for fresh air. Breakfast was amazing. The staff is just lovely. They are all very helpful, cheerful and kind. Great choice.”
“Located in the modern side of Ragusa, we were left a little disappointed by this hotel. We picked it based on it being recommended by Mr & Mrs Smith, and absolutely cannot fault the staff who were all incredibly friendly and helpful with planning excursions in the area. The room we had was small, with no view, and several items in the room that weren’t befitting of a Mr & Mrs Smith hotel room room, cheap plastic lamps, no coffee machine, towels with holes in them, and a bath with no stand up shower. The breakfast spread was varied but struggled with the layout of the room it was hosted in. It almost felt the set up was too small for the size of the room breakfast was hosted in. The hotel is within walking distance of many of the sites in Ragusa, but given the choice we wouldn’t stay here again.”
“Beautiful, quirky hotel that used to be a palace. You never know where the next set of stairs will take you. The dining room is stunning. Go to breakfast, and boom, you're in a regal dining room. It's something else.”
