Tripplo’s hotel summary
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 21 October 2026 · How we review hotels
Four Seasons Hotel Firenze is best for luxury travellers seeking an expansive urban retreat with historic architecture. Notable features include four and a half hectares of gardens, a two-story spa, and fine dining at Il Palagio. On the downside, guests must contend with its distance from the Arno riverbank and a high premium for garden-view suites.
Guests score it 9.3 out of 10 — the average across the 15 hotels we list in Florence is 9.4.
- The Giardino della Gherardesca provides a rare expanse of private greenery within the city walls, featuring century-old trees and manicured lawns that offer a quiet retreat from Florence's busy tourist center.
- Il Palagio serves refined Italian cuisine under vaulted ceilings, with a focus on regional ingredients and an extensive selection of local Tuscan wines.
- Situated approximately fifteen minutes on foot from the Duomo, the property is further from the river and the Oltrarno district than other luxury counterparts, though it offers a more secluded atmosphere.
- The pricing reflects the hotel's heritage and brand standards, with the most desirable suites overlooking the private park commanding a substantial premium over the standard city-view accommodations.

Reviews from Google“We came to the Four Seasons for a drink, and the hotel is absolutely breathtaking. Working in the high-end industry myself, I can confidently say that this property truly lives up to the Four Seasons standard. The hotel is beautiful, the bar feels like stepping into another era, and the service is excellent. Our waiter was particularly funny and made the experience even more enjoyable. It wasn’t too crowded, the atmosphere was calm, and it was easy to have a conversation. The cocktail menu is incredibly unique and genuinely fun to go through. However, if you’re not an adventurous drinker, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the signature cocktails, as the flavours are very unusual: oyster, buffalo wings, Crêpe Suzette… We didn’t particularly enjoy the taste, but it was definitely a memorable experience! The dessert menu is also a nice touch. The ice creams were good, although I think the presentation could be slightly more refined considering the price. The location isn’t my favourite in Florence, but the gardens look absolutely beautiful and are definitely worth a walk. Overall, a stunning hotel and a very memorable experience.”
“There are places one visits in search of a few hours of rest, only to leave with the feeling of having travelled through several centuries. Behind the gates of Four Seasons Hotel Firenze lies the magnificent Palazzo della Gherardesca built in 1473 for Bartolomeo Scala. It is not hard o imagine that over the centuries, this venue welcomed members of the Medici family and some of Florence’s most distinguished households. Today, its frescoes and extraordinary gardens form one of the city’s most enchanting retreats where history whispers, piano piano, through every stone, corridor and garden path. We came to enjoy the spa, but the excellence of the experience revealed itself well before the first treatment. We had the pleasure of meeting Roberta (una vera perla!). With remarkable kindness, elegance and care, she went above and beyond to find arrangements that suited us perfectly and made our visit feel effortless from the very beginning. Roberta and her entire team were truly aux petits soins attentive without ever being intrusive, warm, thoughtful and wonderfully professional. It is precisely this kind of discreet generosity that transforms luxury into genuine hospitality. A special word must also go to Francesca, whose massage was exceptional (precise and deeply relaxing - bravissima!) In such a spectacular setting, one might imagine that the architecture, art and history would be enough to create the magic. In truth, it is its people who give the place its soul. Una parentesi fiorentina fuori dal tempo an unforgettable Florentine interlude, and one we hope to experience again. Un bacio a tutto il team!”
“🌸✨ An unforgettable experience at Four Seasons Florence! ✨🌸 This hotel is truly a masterpiece. From the moment I arrived, I was amazed by the beauty of the property, the peaceful gardens, and the elegant atmosphere throughout the hotel. Every corner feels like a work of art. A special thank you to a wonderful Italian gentleman wearing a vest in the lobby area. He was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and professional. His warm smile and genuine kindness made me feel incredibly welcome and added a personal touch to my stay. 😊 I also feel very lucky because during my visit, the floral decorations in the lobby were absolutely breathtaking. The flowers were stunning, vibrant, and beautifully arranged, creating a magical atmosphere that made every time I walked through the lobby feel special. 🌷🌺💐 The entire experience was luxurious, relaxing, and memorable. Florence is already a beautiful city, but staying here made the trip even more unforgettable. Thank you to the whole team for such outstanding hospitality. I can’t wait to come back! ❤️🇮🇹”
“We arrived hauling luggage , tired and hot and hungry. We used google to find breakfast nearby as our place of stay had a later check in. Well we pull up and the staff was beyond helpful. They greeted us in, allowed us to check in our bags in storage for free (party of 7). Checked with kitchen to see if would accommodate 7 of us for breakfast and sure enough they did. Treated us like one of their guests and we appreciated it very much. American breakfast in a beautiful outdoor setting. (Indoor was beautiful too!) I would highly recommend place this to anyone who might even just want to have a meal and not stay although the preferred way for them is for you to stay. Staff- superb job from the front desk staff to the kitchen staff.”
“The best part of our stay was the staff! The manager Max delighted us with a tour of the property showing us secret corridors and shared the rich history of the spaces. The front desk staff pulled some strings to have our rental car dropped off at the hotel so we could spend our final morning eating breakfast and shopping, rather than rushing to the airport for car pickup which was a wonderful experience. Of course, it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world with art with heritage and culture. Your eyes get lost staring at the details of the room. The food is delicious - our favorite was pasta by the pool. Our only regret is we didn’t spend more time on our trip here!”
