Tripplo’s hotel summary
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 20 October 2026 · How we review hotels
CORE Kaprun wins guests over with its atmosphere. The renovated hotel feels warm and relaxed, guests praise the staff, and the breakfast and Austrian buffet dinners are generous. Saunas, two pools and a well-equipped gym make good use of a rainy afternoon, and the rooms are mostly large, with balconies facing the garden or the mountains. Families feel at home, and in winter the Maiskogelbahn is about 650 m away with the ski bus stop close by. The weak points lie in the details. Rooms have no fridge, kettle or minibar, some are smaller or older than the photos suggest, and the hot tub is only as warm as the pool. One family found the playroom small. Families and couples who want a friendly, comfortable base for skiing on the Maiskogel and Kitzsteinhorn, or for summer hiking with the included card, will feel at home here.
Guests score it 9.1 out of 10 — the average across the 8 hotels we list in Zell am See–Kaprun is 9.1.
- Guests praise the staff as kind, helpful and welcoming, and many describe the atmosphere as warm and relaxed.
- Breakfast is called excellent for its huge choice of bread, fruit and cold cuts, and guests praise the quality of the buffet dinners of Austrian home cooking.
- Several guests missed a fridge, a kettle, coffee or tea and an iron in the room, and one found the heating slow and hard to work out.
- A few guests found their room smaller than in the pictures or the bathroom a little dated. The penthouse suite has some compromises because of the sloping roof, and the lift does not reach its floor.
