Tripplo’s hotel summary
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 22 October 2026 · How we review hotels
Vincci Selección Posada del Patio is excellent for history enthusiasts wishing to stay directly above ancient ruins. Underneath the property lie subterranean Roman and Arabic archaeological ruins, while the roof features a plunge pool with city views. Electric vehicle charging stations are available on-site. However, the rooftop terrace can feel crowded, and valet parking incurs premium pricing.
Guests score it 9.1 out of 10 — the average across the 6 hotels we list in Málaga is 9.2.
- Guests can view preserved sections of Malaga's historic Arabic and Roman walls directly beneath the hotel floor, offering a rare glimpse into the city's ancient past.
- The rooftop terrace features a plunge pool and lounger area, providing a quiet space to relax and look out over the Malaga skyline after a day of sightseeing.
- Because the rooftop terrace is relatively compact, seating around the plunge pool can fill up quickly during peak afternoon hours and warm summer weekends.
- The convenience of on-site valet parking comes with a premium daily fee, though alternative public parking garages are available nearby at slightly lower rates.

What guests say
Reviews from Google“Our stay was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel like VIPs! I closely worked closely with Nahuel, the guest experience manager, to surprise my wife for her birthday, and he executed everything to perfection. From stunning floral arrangements to those thoughtful extra touches, he took "great care" of us and made sure the day was seamless and special. It’s rare to find that level of genuine dedication - thank you! The entire staff was incredibly friendly and always greeted us with a smile. Plus You are right in the heart of everything. We stepped out the door and were immediately immersed in the best the city has to offer. Dinner reservations and "insider" city tips provided were spot on.. The breakfast spread was fantastic (the perfect way to start the day), and the rooms/beds were so comfortable we actually struggled to leave them in the morning. If you want a hotel that combines great comfort with a heart of gold, you found it!”
“We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and couldn’t be happier. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. The room was gorgeous, beautifully maintained, and very clean. The breakfast was also amazing, with a huge variety of options to choose from. I especially appreciated the designated gluten-free area, which made breakfast so much easier and more enjoyable. It was clear that a lot of thought had gone into accommodating different dietary needs both at the breakfast buffet as well as the restaurant in the hotel. Everything throughout the hotel was very well looked after, and the rooftop pool was such a lovely bonus and the perfect place to relax. We also enjoyed a lunch at the hotel’s restaurant which was one of the food highlights of our trip! Overall, we had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!”
“What a lovely hotel. We had a lovely couple of days and the cocktails prepared by Alberto are amazing. Alberto is such a nice guy, making you feel very welcome. The rooms are fantastic and the facilities including the various terraces and rooftop pool are excellent. The hotel has a great friendly vibe and centrally located.”
“The Vincci Selección Posada del Patio markets itself on attention to detail — unfortunately that promise is only partially delivered. While our room and private patio were genuinely beautiful and exactly what we hoped for, the public areas fell well short of the five star standard the hotel claims. The pool area was a particular disappointment — dirty surroundings and murky water are simply not acceptable at this level. After a long day wandering the extraordinary shops and beaches of Málaga, the last thing you want is a pool you don’t feel comfortable relaxing in. José the bellman was a genuine bright spot — wonderful, warm and attentive in every interaction. He deserves better surroundings to work within. The ancient city walls visible beneath the hotel and the historic bones of the property are extraordinary — the potential here is undeniable. But potential and execution are different things, and on this visit the gap between the two was noticeable. Beautiful room. Disappointing experience overall.”
“Brilliant location, just a short distance from the centre of all the bars, restaurants and shops. Staff are lovely, all smiling and very welcoming. Rooftop pool are isn’t big but this is a city hotel so adequate. Never been to Malaga before but everything so far has been fantastic. The hotel also has some historic ruins below and we need to go and have a look.”
