Tripplo’s hotel summary
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 20 October 2026 · How we review hotels
Guests praise the grounds, the breakfast and the quiet. The resort sits on a hill, so the beach is a drive or a shuttle ride away and the paths are steep in places.
Guests score it 9.1 out of 10 — the average across the 53 hotels we list on Crete is 9.1.
- There are four outdoor pools plus an indoor pool, and dining ranges from the main restaurant by the pool to Cretan à la carte venues such as Rodies and Mitato.
- The spa has a sauna, hammam, hot tub and indoor pool, and The Crete Golf Club's 18-hole course lies right next to the resort.
- The beach is down on the coast, so guests use the free shuttle to the beach club and Hersonissos town or drive down themselves.
- Because the resort is built into the hillside, some paths between rooms, pools and restaurants are steep, which can be tiring for less mobile guests.

Reviews from Google“A really beautiful resort with lush gardens and flowers, designed like a traditional Cretan village. There are several restaurants, a café, multiple pools, and plenty of free activities such as yoga, Pilates, kids’ club, mini golf, tennis, computers, a piano (in the library) and more. There’s also a mini market, free Wi-Fi, and golf carts that will happily give you a ride around the resort. You could easily spend your entire holiday here without leaving. The food is also much more reasonably priced than some reviews suggest. The dinner buffet (€25–30) is comparable to what you would pay at restaurants outside the hotel for the same quality. The main downsides were that the location is a bit remote if you want to explore on foot, although the views are fantastic. Also, our 12-year-old was charged as an adult for both accommodation and meals, which felt rather harsh. At times, there also seemed to be a bit too much supervision around the pools. Staff frequently blew whistles at children playing, interpreting the “No Diving” rule to mean they couldn’t even jump feet first into the pool or hold on to the edge. That felt unnecessarily strict and not really in line with what the sign actually indicates. Overall, we had a wonderful stay for the price and would happily return.”
“We had a fantastic stay at Village Heights Resort in Crete. The resort is beautifully maintained, with clean pools, and a peaceful atmosphere that made it easy to relax. The staff were exceptional—friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help with any questions or requests. Their excellent service really made a difference - especially John and Nikos. The breakfast offered a great variety, and while we ate out for some evening meals, the food we had at the resort was fresh and well prepared. There were plenty of activities available, and the facilities were excellent for both couples and families. The resort is a little outside the main town, but we actually enjoyed the quieter location. Overall, we had a wonderful holiday and would happily return. We highly recommend Village Heights Resort to anyone looking for a relaxing, high-quality stay with excellent service.”
“Great service, superb location with a wonderful garden and amazing views. The room was very big, nice, clean and quiet, the food was great and varied, the place was very clean and well maintained and there were plenty of activities to choose from on the premises. We also enjoyed the cretan night with traditional music, dances and food. All in all, a great experience at fair price. Also, the Cretan massage was the best massage I've had, although a bit pricey. However, Paula and Anna were great)”
“Me and my family just got back from 7days break. People here are lovely and friendly, from all the team on the front desk to Dimitris on the gates, Vasillis making the kids happy in the buggy. We rented a car and we were self catering. I would defo go all inclusive next time €15 euro for one cocktail is pricy. Although the beer is good value. We would go back, we all loved the activities. But at the same time it’s very nice and chilled not too hectic.”
“It's a great location with good amenities on property. The restaurants are all very good. The pools and lounging areas are very nicely done. Free shuttle into town which is really really nice. It's not completely centrally located on the island but essentially located enough that if you get a rental car which I highly recommend you can go anywhere on the island within 2 to 3 hours to get a real taste for Greek life. What you have to do because the area that you are in is very touristy and you won't get the full Greek experience unless you drive to other locations. The views are stunning near the resort and just in general on the island. The downside is the room itself unfortunately though. The beds are awful I don't know any other way to say it if you have any sort of pre-existing back issue this bed will leave you in pain when you wake up in the morning. The bed is so hard it is like sleeping on a board. I did complain and they did come and put a topper to soften the bed a little bit. However it was still uncomfortable but the pain stopped at least. For a five star hotel it's just unacceptable to have a bed that uncomfortable and hard. There were some other minor things in the room that seems a little out like not having a washcloth, not having a full size refrigerator. The service is excellent there whether you're talking about the room service or the restaurant service everyone is very friendly and accommodating so I give them a round of applause. They also immediately fixed my bed issue which is why I rate this review three stars and not two stars. Most of the guests at this resort are European and say British and German mostly so you will feel a little bit out of place as an American but for the most part everyone is very friendly and you will adapt within a few days. There's some nuances like the toilets not being allowed to flush toilet paper but you get over that pretty quick and it's not that big of a deal. Yes there are a lot of cicadas here but you get over that pretty quick it's not that big of a deal and frankly you're only at the resort a few hours a day with the exception of a few days that you make resort days. Crete is a huge island lots to explore and you don't want to be at the resort all the time. Like I said main issue is the bed not sure if that's a European thing but frankly it's unacceptable anyway given how badly something like a bed can ruin a 2-week vacation trip at a resort. Thank God it was fixed because I would have had to have bought an air bed if they had not have done something with the topper.”
