Tripplo’s hotel summary
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 21 October 2026 · How we review hotels
History buffs wanting a peaceful garden setting should book Palazzo Confalone. It features a medieval palazzo with 16th- to 18th-century antiques, alongside shaded, peaceful garden grounds that contrast with modern design elements. Guests also enjoy panoramic views of the coast. For drawbacks, Wi-Fi is limited strictly to public areas, and guests must negotiate steep stairs throughout the property.
Guests score it 9.3 out of 10 — the average across the 18 hotels we list on Amalfi Coast is 9.5.
- The property features original sixteenth- to eighteenth-century antiques and architectural details, offering guests a direct connection to Ravello's aristocratic history.
- Situated high above the coastline, the hotel and several of its guest rooms look out directly over the dramatic cliffs and waters of the Amalfi Coast.
- Free wireless internet is primarily restricted to the hotel's shared spaces, which may disappoint those needing reliable connectivity inside their rooms.
- The historic building's original layout features multiple levels and steps, which could pose a challenge for guests with limited mobility.

Reviews from Google“This hotel truly went above and beyond. My husband and I have traveled all over Italy, and this is easily the most beautiful hotel—and honestly one of the most beautiful places—we’ve ever stayed. It’s tucked away on a quiet, charming street in Ravello, which made it feel so peaceful and romantic. Just a short walk to the town center, shops and restaurants. The views from the terraces are absolutely breathtaking—florals everywhere, lemon groves, and private terrace spaces that feel straight out of a dream. The concierge team was incredibly helpful with everything, including reservations, and made the whole stay feel effortless. Breakfast each morning overlooking the cliffs, with views of the city and ocean, felt like something out of a postcard. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant, and it was just as incredible. The views were stunning, the service and food were flawless, and the attention to detail really stood out. They surprised us with a few complimentary mini courses, and everything was served individually, almost like a private tasting menu. Small touches—like constantly refreshing water and wine and changing utensils between courses—made it feel really elevated. Housekeeping was also amazing—they cleaned the room during the day why we were exploring the beautiful town and provided turndown service in the evening. Overall, one of the most romantic and memorable stays we’ve ever had. Highly recommend! We will definitely be back soon.”
“We stayed here during our wedding, and it was truly the best hotel service we have ever experienced. Every single staff member was incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating from the moment we arrived. The ladies at reception were especially amazing and made us feel so cared for throughout our stay. We had several last-minute requests during our stay, including multiple items needing to be steamed, and the team handled everything so graciously and efficiently. I am also gluten free and have a hazelnut allergy, and the entire staff was aware and attentive the whole time, which made me feel extremely comfortable and safe. Beyond the beautiful hotel itself, it was the warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality of the staff that made this stay so special. We will never forget it.”
“Advertised as a 5-star hotel, but our experience was anything but. We booked a terrace-view room at Palazzo Confalone and extended our stay because we were attending a wedding in Ravello. At around $750 USD per night, we expected a luxury experience. Unfortunately, it turned into one disappointment after another. The first issue was that the hotel charges one night before arrival and the remaining balance at check-in, not checkout. They charged my card for the rest of our stay before telling us that the room we booked didn’t have working air conditioning!! When we were finally shown our room, it felt like a sauna. There was a fan in the room, and we were simply told, “The AC is broken.” It’s July in Italy. Air conditioning is a basic expectation when you’re paying these rates. We spent about 30 minutes trying to resolve the issue, only to be told the hotel was sold out. I asked if we had paid for a room with air conditioning, and the answer was yes. I expected to receive what we paid for… Their solution was to move us to another property next door (about $250 USD a night). We agreed before really looking around, which was our mistake. Once we did, it was immediately obvious it wasn’t comparable. It was outdated, UNCLEAN, and nowhere near the quality expected, despite us paying luxury hotel prices. No partial refund, room credit, or other compensation was offered. When I explained that this wasn’t acceptable, I was told I could find my own accommodations. So I did. I spent an additional $1,200 out of pocket for one night at another hotel. The only reason we returned the next day was because all of the wedding guests were staying at Palazzo Confalone. Otherwise, we would have left completely. We were promised a suite for the remainder of our stay. Instead, we were placed in a dark basement room with no terrace or view—nothing like the room we originally booked. To make matters worse, the room was directly underneath the owner’s apartment! Every night we heard stomping, furniture moving, barking dogs, and constant noise until around 1:00 a.m. Every morning between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m., we were woken up by children running overhead! Hotels have problems sometimes, and I understand that. What matters is how they’re handled. What was especially disappointing was that after our stay, the hotel refunded only one night—the very night I wasn’t even staying there because I had to pay $1,200 for another hotel after being told to find my own accommodations. There was no compensation for the downgraded room, losing the terrace we paid for, the sleepless nights, or the overall experience during the rest of our stay. For a hotel that advertises itself as a five-star property, I expected much better customer service and accountability. I hope future guests have a better experience than we did, but based on ours, I would recommend looking at the many other excellent hotels on the Amalfi Coast before booking Palazzo Confalone. Following up to your response: Thank you for your response, but it leaves out the majority of what happened. You claim the air conditioning was repaired the next morning. However, we were in Ravello for a wedding, and the guests who stayed in our original room after us repeatedly commented on how hot it was and were visibly sweating because the AC was still not working. More importantly, you completely ignored the rest of our experience. We were moved from the terrace room we booked into a dark basement room directly beneath the owner’s apartment. Every night we listened to adults walking around, furniture moving, barking dogs, and every morning we were woken up by children running overhead. That is not a five-star experience. You also fail to mention that I was told to find my own accommodations, which cost me an additional $1,200, or that the only refund I received was for the one night I wasn’t even staying at your hotel. My review reflects my actual experience, and unfortunately, your response does not.”
“I had my symbolic ceremony at Palazzo Confalone and it was the most magical experience I’ve ever had in my life! Food was delicious, staff were incredible, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the views are stunning! They made our day special and stress free. If you’re thinking of visiting and celebrating a special day, do not hesitate to do it here.”
“I recently celebrated my 40th birthday with my family at Palazzo Confalone, and it was nothing short of magical. From the very start, the booking process was seamless and stress-free, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening. The property itself is absolutely stunning—every corner feels steeped in history and elegance. We were fortunate to enjoy a private dinner, which made the experience feel incredibly special. The food was exceptional—beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor—and the staff who looked after us were warm, attentive, and genuinely delightful. I can’t recommend Palazzo Confalone highly enough for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience or a truly special celebration. It was the perfect setting for a milestone occasion and a night my family and I will always treasure.”
