Tripplo’s hotel summary
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 21 October 2026 · How we review hotels
This heritage property is best for history lovers who value proximity to Malmö Central Station. The hotel features historic 14th-century architectural elements. Guests can enjoy breakfast served in medieval vaulted cellars and dine at the on-site Vietnamese fusion restaurant. However, travellers should note that the historic nature of the building means rooms come with varied sizes and layouts, and there is limited parking in the city centre.
Guests score it 8.7 out of 10 — the average across the 4 hotels we list in Malmö is 8.6.
- The building dates back to the 1300s and was once a royal residence, with many rooms retaining original details such as heavy, exposed wooden ceiling beams that emphasize its heritage.
- About a seven-minute walk from Malmö Central Station, the hotel keeps international train connections within easy reach, and the historic Stortorget Square is only a few minutes away on foot.
- Due to the constraints of the 14th-century structure, certain rooms are more compact than modern standards. Guests requiring extra space should consider the Family Room, which sleeps up to four.
- Parking is in a garage opposite the hotel and is arranged through reception on arrival. Adelgatan is pedestrianised, so cars can only reach the door via Hamngatan for a brief stop to load and unload.

Reviews from Google“Appreciated location for train & walking to historic sites, mini frig & kettle, comfortable bed, helpful staff, small room fine for 1 for brief stay, good breakfast, BBC channel. Room needs a deep cleaning, get rid of unwashed decorative pillows on top of clean pillows, had to remove all the items they're selling to use mini frig, only hand held shower attachment worked, shower door is not flush to floor so much water ends up on bathroom floor, phone should've been replaced when it didn't ring, sink too small to wash things, closet & bathroom area had a sewer gas smell, no decaffeinated coffees & teas offered, flight of stairs to reception could be difficult with heavy luggage or mobility challenges.”
“I got a nice double room for a great price, and the service and greeting were first class. The receptionist was very talkative, which delayed my check-in a bit, but it was actually really nice to see her taking the time to treat every guest so well. They even let me pack a breakfast to go, which was great! :-D I just wish I’d had more time to read all the interesting info on the walls. P.S. The hotel has a very charming, old-school atmosphere. If you fancy modern halls, saunas, gyms, and wide-open spaces, this place is not for you—but for everyone else, it’s full of character”
“The guy at the reception was a bit of a moodkill compared to the hotel’s charming and mysterious vibe. He did not welcome us or smile or smalltalk or anything positive. Just processed the check-in. The room was spacious and comfortable but was not as advertised and had almost no natural light from a very small roof window. It was okay for us because we were only staying one night. Would not like it for multiple days. The hotel’s library and breakfast area were super cosy. Unfortunately, the plant-based options in the breakfast were very limited, but the Asian-looking lady in the kitchen provided amazing service and prepared for us vegan cheese, ham and muffins. Lifted the whole stay. Special thanks to her. 🙏”
“Loved this place. Very historic and well kept up. Rode the Malmö oldest elevator few times. Breakfast good in the historic basement....well everything is historic there. Bed felt good and bathroom was clean. The only downside I have it was little bit dusty on places that are noticeable. Location is amazing very close to train station and the downtown area. Will definitely come back. Free coffee in reception area 24/7 🤩”
“Apparently the only family owned hotel in Malmö - very oldschool but charming. Good breakfast buffet, the room was nice and quiet. Strong, warm shower and cozy beds. But it is a very old hotel. Would still highly recommend though, especially since it is very close to Malmö C and some nice restaurants :)”
