Tripplo’s hotel summary
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 21 October 2026 · How we review hotels
Architectural enthusiasts will appreciate this historic property, which showcases Renaissance architecture and original frescoes. It features a terrace overlooking Wawel Castle and a pool housed inside gothic vaulted cellars. Dining options include seasonal Polish cuisine on-site. A potential drawback is that the historic layout may limit accessibility for some guests, and the cellar spa has limited natural light.
Guests score it 9.0 out of 10 — the average across the 8 hotels we list in Kraków is 9.1.
- The building is a preserved Renaissance masterpiece, featuring original 14th-century wooden ceilings and restored fresco fragments that connect guests directly to Kraków's medieval history.
- Set deep within the hotel’s ancient subterranean brick vaults, the indoor swimming pool and sauna offer a quiet, atmospheric retreat away from the city's busy streets.
- Because the indoor pool and spa are located in the historic brick cellars, they lack natural daylight, though the ambient lighting compensates well for this.
- Preserving the original Renaissance structure means that certain areas of the hotel have narrow corridors and steps, which might prove challenging for travelers with limited mobility.

Reviews from Google“Absolutely loved this hotel!! Location is excellent to walking distance to Wawel Castle & Market Square to name a few. The service was phenomenal from the moment we checked in until we checked out. Room decor was amazing. Room was clean & new bottles of water were placed daily in room to replace used ones. Entire staff was friendly & professional. Helped us with any types of questions we had. Would definitely return here!”
“This hotel was absolutely stunning. Every single second of our stay was perfect, with the staff being super accomodating and friendly, the rooms gorgeous and superbly clean, and food was delicious. It is also located very close to everywhere you would want to go in Krakow, but also far enough away where you aren't bothered by any party goers. 100% would recommend staying at this beautiful hotel.”
“Our stay was outstanding from start to finish. The entire team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and you can see the pride they take in their work in every detail of the guest experience. A special thank you to Johanna, the GM, who clearly leads by example and has built a fantastic team around her – she should be very proud of her staff. We are already looking forward to our next visit and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Krakow!”
“Hotel Copernicus was just the right amount of intimacy and sophistication, historical and contemporary amenities. Rooms and ambience very unique, staff so friendly and helpful, a great place to have peace and relaxation, but at the same time feel the deepness of the location. Ideal location if in Krakow.”
“An absolutely stunning hotel, the pool and spa facilities are delightful. My husband and I were on a romantic weekend away and this hotel ticked all of the boxes, the rooms were spacious and extremely comfortable with quality down bedding and a large and very comfortable queen size sleigh bed. Whilst we didn’t eat at the hotel (we wanted to explore) the food looked delicious and the setting remarkable. Location wise it is a stone’s throw from the old town and a quick stroll to the tram if you want to go down to Kazimierz (the Jewish district) for the night life and street food. I’d go back in a heartbeat.💓”
