Tripplo’s hotel summary
Tripplo’s analysis · Updated 21 October 2026 · How we review hotels
Hotel Almirante Alicante is best for beach-loving holidaymakers who prefer to step directly onto the sand and lounge by a large outdoor pool. It offers direct access to San Juan Beach and three places to eat on site. A notable drawback is its location, which is ten minutes by car from the old town, and it gets busy during the high summer.
Guests score it 9.0 out of 10 — the average across the 5 hotels we list in Alicante is 8.8.
- The hotel opens straight onto the sand at Playa de San Juan, the widest and least built-up of Alicante's beaches, without a road to cross.
- A large outdoor pool sits within the grounds, and a fitness centre is available to guests year-round.
- The old quarter, the Explanada and the marina are a tram ride or a ten-minute drive away, so this is not a base for walking out to tapas in the evening.
- Family rooms and direct beach access draw a mixed crowd in July and August; expect the pool area to be at its liveliest then.

What guests say
Reviews from Google“Lovely hotel by San Juan Beach. Easy walking distance to a number of bars & restaurants. The beach is across the road. The staff were lovely, especially in the bar. The menu in the restaurant gave a lot of choice. There is a small gym on the 1st floor and you can book a massage from Reception. The pool has its own bar where you can order drinks and small snacks, including ice cream. The rooms and bathroom are clean and the pressure on the shower is lovely.”
“I recently had a 3 day stay at this amazing hotel. The staff are fantastic, but what's more is the architecture! Absolutely stunning! The breakfast buffet was absolutely huge! It had pretty much everything for every taste of many cultures. The rooms are large and the layout is amazing. Great location, numerous conciergeries, and no annoying wristbands. All this at prices lower than the other large corporate hotel chains. Definitely worth the stay. The pictures of the pool are a bit deceiving. It’s a smaller, oval-shaped pool – but still rather nice with chairs and lounges all around – including some very nice, shady spaces. There are a bar and grill located at the pool. A very nice touch. This feels like a 5 star hotel.”
“If you are looking for the perfect blend of a beachfront lifestyle and a relaxing golf getaway, look no further than Hotel Almirante. Our stay here was absolutely incredible, and we are already planning our next trip back! Here is what made our stay so special: Unbeatable Location: You are literally soaking up the Mediterranean sun right on the beachfront. It’s just a short, effortless walk straight onto the sand. Plus, being just off the Costa Blanca TRAM line made exploring the area incredibly convenient. The Room: Our room felt luxurious, exceptionally clean, and wonderfully comfortable. It looked newly remodeled with a fresh, modern design that we loved coming back to each night. The Food: Breakfast here is exceptional, especially if you love starting your day with healthy options. I had a delicious spread of eggs, Greek yogurt, fresh local fruit, and a perfectly made double espresso. Amenities & Service: The swimming pool area is fantastic for unwinding after a day on the golf course or the beach. To top it all off, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout our entire stay. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended to anyone visiting Alicante.”
“Ecco una versione più breve, naturale e adatta a una recensione a 5 stelle: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Almirante! The location is perfect, just a short walk from the beautiful San Juan Beach, which has plenty of restaurants, cafés, and services, and it’s also only a short drive from Alicante city centre. We stayed in a Panorama Room, and the view was absolutely amazing. The hotel is clean, the staff are friendly, and we also really enjoyed the restaurant. A couple of small suggestions: more comfortable mattresses, more modern TVs, and an air pump for children’s inflatables would make the experience even better. We would definitely stay here again!”
“Beautiful pool and wonderful food and service in the lounge and restaurant. All staff were exceptional. We stayed in the premium room and it met all our needs. Would absolutely recommend to families and couples looking for comfortable accommodation within walking distance to the Playa San Juan.”
